Quote of the Day

One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.

Friday Fill-In #65

1. Some relationships are meant to LAST.

2. (GOLLY, I CAN'T REMEMBER) is the last concert I saw; it was APPARENTLY, FORGETTABLE.

3. Spring should be LONGER.

4. Oh no! I forgot THE CAT!

5. I've recently started GOING TO THE GYM.

6. MUSIC never fails to make me smile.

Bet you thought I was going to say Gracie!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to SOME SPACE AND TIME, tomorrow my plans include A VISIT BY THE KIDDO and Sunday, I want to DO SOMETHING FUN!

Stationery Heartbreak

Photobucket

Cruising blogs, I saw this post about falling in love with stationery supplies then having one's heart broken when the company stops making the item.

Since I've experienced this twice -- Black Velvet pencils, Papermate Flair (original) -- I decided, I had better put my heart on the line too.

Disposable Pilot Varsity Fountain Pens -- they write as smoothly as everyone reports, but lack the elegance I associate with fountain pens.
  • I was musing about how to word that remark and picked up a favorite fountain pen of mine and it leaked South Sea Blue ink all over me which was less elegant than I remember.
Also, disposing of a fountain pen is against my religion.

Who would cast aside a lovely fountain pen?

To that end, there are multiple web pages showing how to reload this pen, which defeats the design purpose, but shows the obstinance and resourcefulness of human beings.

Too bad all that energy won't keep companies from discontinuing perfectly good products.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. My pager going off in the middle of the night is so exciting!

One way to get your heart started.

2. Strawberry fields would be squishy.

3. Mountain Oysters sounds like it would taste delicious!

Au contraire, cowboy.

4. Why does exercise make me feel so good?!

No, really. Why won't doctors say reclining in a comfy chair, reading a good book whilst noshing on Godiva chocolate has been shown to have proven health benefits?

5. Ireland is something I've always wanted to see.

6. It's sad when the movie you just paid $10 to see sucks like nobody's business.

And you wished you'd waited for the DVD release that would have only cost $3.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to being done with errand day + steak and crab for dinner, tomorrow my plans include nothing planned yet and Sunday, I want to enjoy the Easter buffet breakfast downtown!

Mimosas!
At long last, Sunday breakfast out.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Contact may cause SKIN LESIONS.

Well, ain't I a happy camper this AM?

2. The parties hereto do mutually agree LET THE LAWYERS FIGHT IT OUT.

Lawyer jokes are always amusing until one good one changes your life with five minutes of work.

3. Disney parks GIANT RVs IN EVERYONE'S WAY.

Gee, it's been an awfully long time since I was at Disneyland. I think our college graduate was three at the time.

4. ANOTHER DOUBLE-SHOT sounds really good right about now!

... but I don't really want to be awake until tomorrow, so I must decline. Alas.

5. I positively ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN.

Ha. Guess.

6. GRACIE always makes me smile :-)

Yes, The NAUGHTIEST PUPPY IN THE WORLD is always good for a laugh.

She's started
making a little exasperated sound when we're getting on her nerves. Sounds like ooof. Teaching her to lie down, after the third time, she looks at me, collapses on the floor, ooof. Like she's saying, oy, humans can be annoying.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to GETTING MY NEW LIGHTSCRIBE CD WRITER TO WORK WITH MY AGING LITTLE MAC, tomorrow my plans include HOPING I'M NOT STILL TRYING TO GET MY NEW LIGHTSCRIBE CD WRITER TO WORK WITH MY AGING LITTLE MAC, and Sunday, I want to WELL, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THESE SUNDAYS, I MAY ACTUALLY GET TO GO OUT TO BREAKFAST!
Wasn't bacon and eggs, but it was Sunday out.

Lightscribe worked on the little Mac with a minimum of fussing.

Interactive Media

My computer thinks it knows me,

better than I know myself.

Pretentious machine.

It stores my preferences in files

marked ARCHIVE,

and

READ ONLY.

And posts warnings

to avoid deletion,

or unfettered change.

Mechanized Tyrant.

To be free,

I go underground.

And lie

bald-faced,

or sin

by omission.

I won't admit,

I like chocolate chip,

no matter how many times

I'm asked.

If I change my mind,

and prefer

the desert to the beach,

I won't confess.

Take that motherboard.

(how aptly named.)

Plot that in your BIOS.

You don't

know me.

Quote of the Day

I like living.

I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.
