Be Afraid.

I was frightened by a dust bunny this morning.

Walking into my office in the wee hours, the office door about four feet from the laundry room, I saw something on the floor by the washer.

I started to move in for a closer look and thought -- hold on -- might that thing jump on me?

Scene safety is the FIRST thing they teach EMTs and firemen.

So, I paused, I peered, I stepped back, retrieved a flashlight and took a second look.

Look at this freakin' thing. It looks like it has horns!
Now, I might say, since I'm currently writing a horror script, I have creeped myself over the edge.

Or, I might lead you to believe, we grow 'em extra big in Montana.

But, I think, truth be told, someone needs to clean house.

And keep the hallway lights on.

Wild Life

This is a Downy Woodpecker.

Cute as a button, isn't he?

This is what he does at my house every morning at 6 AM.

Sorry for the shaky camera work, but it was early and I was in my jamis.

Shaky camera work can always be attributed to the camera person being in their jamis.

And here's what it sounds like inside the house.

Good morning.

Not So Flat Water

Word to the wise. Don't kayak on a day like this. Storm's coming. Which means, cold wind and big waves.

Even a one foot high wave looks big when a person's boat is only one and a half feet tall.

And the day tends to end up looking like this --

Trees bent sideways from the wind.
and that is no fun.

But before the day went to ... wind ...

My nerves couldn't take having one of my cameras on a boat I'm not quite in control of yet, so I googled, "small, cheap, waterproof digital" and bought a camera for $50.

Not bad for $50 and, look, it matches my boat.

Here is my first underwater picture. I have no idea what this is, but I may have discovered Atlantis.
