did you hear Mr High Hat wanted them to put a disclaimer at the beginning of the film "This is a work of fiction", um yeah, duh, the book was on top of the NY Times FICTION charts.. it's a good story
It's smart in that it will keep the true believers away -- those who believe they don't dare ignore the Vatican, which is millions. Ya gotta protect the sheep from heretics, ya know.
American Catholics are notoriously independent, but I suppose there are some who will comply. When I was a kid, the local parish used to post a list of movies Catholics weren't supposed to see on the door of the church.
There's a line from an old Jimmy Buffet song --
"Religion's in the hands of some crazy-ass people."
The best way to motivate me is to tell me, "You can't do that."
